New to AWBW as of a few weeks ago
Hi everyone! I'm ruinedshadows! I used to play this game back on Gameboy and DS, 10ish years ago. Played a ton against the computer and loved making maps. AW is my second favorite video game of all time. I am so excited to have found AWBW to continue playing.
I have spent the last couple weeks playing as many games as I could fit in. I have played 14, however, it seems they disappear from my completed games list over time (is that normal?). Anyways, they were rough, especially my first ones. Playing versus people is much harder than the computer, as you guys already know. I have spent some time reading the strategy wiki and hope I can keep improving. I'd love to play all of you guys at some point.
As for map design, the other super fun part of this game besides playing, I have to date completed and published 5 maps and am working on a few more. I started just focusing on smaller 2P land maps (with some air units). I hope I can keep improving them. I really appreciate everyone who has already given me feedback! I will continue to update my maps and implement your guys' advice. I think I'm going to start on a sea map next. This will be a new challenge for me as I normally like to stick to land and air only. Also, I have tried to play and analyze a bunch of the S-maps to help my design skills. If there are any of the 111 in particular that are the epitome of map design, I'd love to know.
Well, that's it, just wanted to say hi to all of you guys on the forum. Thanks for reading. Come play a game with me and check out my maps! I hope I can become a proficient player and map designer, as well as a regular member of the community, before too long.

Welcome aboard! I actually found this site pretty much the same way. I've been playing for about a year and a half now. I can't access the forum very often due to circumstances that prevent me from accessing this website, but I am active on the main site. Send me a message if you want to play a game.

Hi ruinedshadows! I'm one of the people who's commented on your maps a good bit, so I'll introduce myself.
I'm Xmo5 and I've been around the site for about 8 years now, and within the last few years I started taking an interested in serious map design, eventually landing a spot on the map committee. If you ever have a question about map design or how the site works, don't hesitate to send me a message. I may not have many current games and sometimes I'm slow taking my turn, but I always try my best to be active and responsive to new maps/comments and PMs. Also, if you catch anything you think is a bug, you can feel free to message and ask or let me know; I can't do anything about it personally, but we have a number of problems after moving the site to a new server (and some issues from before) and it's good to keep a running tab of everything we'd like to have fixed.
Overall, your maps have been very good for a new player, so don't give up now. Like many things, map design is best learned by practice, so keep pumping out new maps and keep an eye out for constructive criticism. Just don't forget to think things through yourself- just because we're the so-called experts, doesn't mean we're infallible. If we say something that sounds off to you, feel free to call us out on it- we might have overlooked something, or even better, we might learn something new.
Anyway, that's enough out of me for now. Welcome to the site!
