I guarantee my answers to be selected by a non-random method.

I could write an experimental procedure for mine for which, given the same initial conditions, would result in selecting the same choice(s) every time.

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
Ironically I didn't end up choosing the ones I wanted to choose (based solely off of the information content of each choice) but those are the ones that are doing the best so far.

No such thing as free will, so you had no choice to select what you selected.

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
OK so i see some of you are interested in statistics. Ive been helping people with their math homework recently and i think i found a curiosity which you might like for impressing your friends in pub.
Throwing a 6 with a good dice, you have one chance in 6.
But when you throw two dice (or die or dices) you nearly but not quite get two chances in 6 of seeing at least one 6.
Simplest explanation wins a prize. he he. actually emphasis on intuitive too.
(well awbw is down and its summer hols)

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
I'd go with:
If you throw 6 dice you still have a good chance of not rolling a 6 at all.
So you can't use multiplication to get the overall chance for getting a 6.

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
Yes thats very nice. Certainly clear for getting 6 sixes. And indicates it cant be true either for 2 by adding, by a kind of intuitive interpolation.
(( of course The multiplication here being equivalent to adding (repeatedly), the adding somehow being intuitive.))
However that explanation alone doesnt seem to indicate why (nor incorporate the fact that) the real answer is very close to adding ie., very close to 2 in 6.

Well, I got banned from Vegas. And Monaco. So now im trying Andorra.
Actually i met a guy friend of friend thing, new chess player in holland park, who really did get banned from LV years ago long before the books and films for card counting.

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
I'm going to assume by your wording that rolling either 1 or 2 sixes is okay here. To clarify, you aren't trying to be tricky and say "You have slightly less than 1/3 chance of rolling a 6 with 2 dice because there's a 1/36 chance that you get two sixes which is not what I asked for."
Like I said, your phrasing would suggest you aren't trying to be tricky like that, but I just thought I'd cover all my bases.
EDIT: I guess the converse of that could be, if you're asking for the probability of seeing a 6 with 2 dice, there's a chance that (assuming a pair of sixes counts as 2) you get an extra six sometimes. so 1/6 + 1/6 + (1/6 x 1/6) = 13/36 > 12/36. Again, your wording doesn't suggest this though, but I thought I'd cover my bases.

Re: Random Poll for a Random Forum
Yeah i think your interpretation of my question is right.
The usual math answer of course is that out of the 36 posible outcomes that 5 plus 6 cases making a total of 11 cases contains at least one six. So we have 11 in 36 which is very close to 1 in 6 plus 1 in 6 ( that is 11/36 is close to 1/6 + 1/6 = 1/3 = 12/36).
Maybe theres an explanation why 1/6 plus 1/6 nearly works and why the correct answer is just a bit less.
Actually I m not yet an expert in stats and probability and i may be barking up the wrong tree but well this is random chat and awbw still down
Panzer general
Yeah i played a bit of the down load versión against an AI. Not an equal battle of course. Basically for me it is identical to AW and enjoyable but like DoR some unusual units too and it would need a bit of experience to play well. I didnt bother to play much as i didnt think there was an online versión, and i preferred the visual and unit variety simplicity of AW.
I may give the online panzer a try next week if theres no AWBW ( is CT playable yet?) ?
