Custom Wars Tactics Project
First topic message reminder :
This project is not mine, but it's definitely worth a look.

Essentially another Custom Wars game, but with some solid polish thusfar.

Re: Custom Wars Tactics Project
Good to see you guys are still keen on AW survival. Just a few points that I hope may help your orientation . (just so you know I am one of top active players in awbw league and I have had many discussions with all levels of players at awbw over many years.)
Way backmachine had parts of AWBW forum copied, maybe those other forums too.
I think a living game site with people playing is much more important than old forum banter. Most ideas will get reinvented anyway.
Priority is active gaming human v human community . This will keep and motivate a base of players and other people who will then attend to other details.
Having an AI is secondary. All AI play AW weakly at present anyway. People have the Nintendo's for that.
Another priority is an automated fog league AND non-fog league. These 2 game modes are vastly different and often players have a strong preference for one or the other.
CO powers could be implemented later. Also Sounds are secondary. But an easy to use damage calculator seems essential, as at awbw. Cheat codes likewise are low importance .
The main problem with awbw at present is not that it crashes for days or a week or more. The problem is that we are all in the dark. Awbw is great when it works but when it goes down no one has any idea when it might return and so players leave at that point. And the community is dwindling. Also bugs are not attended. The fog league and other speed league etc are basically abandoned bugged with stuck games.
If you want CWT to be better than or different to awbw when its up then a bit of customisation might be popular.

Re: Custom Wars Tactics Project
Hey JSRulz,
Not sure if this is the most appropriate place to post this, but it's worth a shot. I've been curious for a while about AWDS gameplay. Having recently read the debate on AWBW vs AWDS, I think I'd like to get into AWDS competitive play. Is there some existing website or player base or forum I can get into to try it out?
Thanks.

Re: Custom Wars Tactics Project
Hey Everdan,
It still exists. You can find information about them in the following places
Wars World News
http://forums.warsworldnews.com/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=13845
Reddit

I haven't personally tried it, but it may be your best bet for playing AWDS online. The other option was getting a screen share program like Team viewer or Skype, then allowing others to move by allowing other people to control your screen. It does work, but having a complete stranger get control of my PC even for a little while seems too risky for a game.
AWBW is still the most solid choice for online play. Non disclosure is incredibly important for online play, and AWBW is the only program that offers it.
