Echo Ridge map design
Hello everyone!!
I'd like to bring my experience in designing my map to the forum for more discussion. I also wanted to talk about some issues I have had with bringing my map to the community at large.
I don't mean to spark controversy over my map. My map plays differently than the more popular A-tier and S-tier maps. I don't expect my map to become popular for this reason alone. My map deviates from the standard 2base + 1 infantry, and it also puts utmost importance on the object in the middle of the map. I am not expecting anybody to play on my map if they don't want to.
I do, however, expect users to be fair and impartial to a map and it's producer(s). If you are going to choose not to play on a map, then please don't score that map!!!. Currenly I have recieved four scorings on my map who all chose to give it a 1 without any comment detailing why they score so low.
This is a bad thing for people like me who are new to the map-making community who think they have good ideas to share with other users. I like to think I am doing good things for the meta. I can take criticism, and I open my ear to people who have a different opinion, and I edit my map accordingly if there are flaws that are described to me in detail.
I apologize to those users who I discuss my map with and get into heated arguments about balance and FTA. I don't mean to get upset, but I can't help it when I've worked to tediously on my map for somebody to throw it out the window because it doesn't follow the community guidelines. I have had people elect not to even play a single game on my map because they consider it to be very flawed and imbalanced. As much as I disagree with them, this is fine by me. Perhaps with time you may try some day, but in the meantime please don't rank the map if you'v not played on it!!!!
I'm here to produce fun and balanced maps but it has been difficult with all the backlash I have recieved for what I consider to be innovative ideas. My map is very different than lots of the popular maps on AWBW.
I know this is a long-shot, but I request for my map to be placed under review. I really think that this map is a lot of fun and I think you might find out yourself after playing a few rounds on Echo Ridge. If the map won't fall under review then I think it would be fitting to place it under innovative maps.
I am also willing to discuss importing the 2factory +1 infantry to Echo Ridge if it can be done without breaking down the integrity of the map so far. I am more than happy to discuss my maps over voice chat as well.
thanks ahead of time!! and I appreciate the feedback!!

.
Also, before we get into a big discussion about FTA and gameplay and such, please do not express these ideas if you are not willing to play out that idea in game on Echo Ridge! If you don't have time to play on my map then I won't give you the benefit of the doubt!

Re: Echo Ridge map design
While it's always encouraged to challenge the current way of thinking and come up with new ways to design maps, it's also quite possible for experienced players and map designers to evaluate maps to a certain level without having played on them. Many of the players who have been around AWBW have seen and played on maps that have a lot of similarities to the one you published and have more or less universally decided based on their individual experiences that certain fundamental map characteristics result in poor balance and/or gameplay experience. If another map, such as yours, has these same fundamental map characteristics, it is sufficient information to know that the map will play out in a similar fashion.
I'll also add that any maps that are placed into the categories of New, Under Review, A-Rank, and S-Rank are done so based on the degree to which the map meets gameplay and balance standards as they apply to the AWBW meta for competitive play. This map does not meet those standards and therefore will not be added to any of these categories without further edits that take into account the wealth of feedback you've received.

Re: Echo Ridge map design
I would really like to lose to you guys so that your point is more clear. If you guys won't play on my map even for the sake of my learning then what else can I say about you? you guys are an elite that I cannot dream of touching, and you don't care about my learning
Would you guys play me on the map of your choosing? Or do you just not want to play me at all? I feel like people are avoiding me because I will hold their map to the same standards as mine. I think people would be surprised at how much work and testing I have done on my map if they would actually talk about it with me rather than toss it at the first sight of a percieved design flaw.
I would love love love to have a discussion over microphone and compare maps
