Tank on a mountain

I'm in a league game on the Pompeii map and my opponent managed to get a tank on a mountain. Is that a bug?

Can you send a link? I'm looking at the game and don't see any tanks on mountains.

That's the correct game. Two spaces south of the red HQ, he's got a tank perched on a mountain.

Interestingly, if I log out and view the game, I see trees, but as soon as I log back in with my account, I see a mountain.

Yeah, you're definitely seeing an old version of the map of some sort. Try toggling gridlines on and off and see if that helps. I would say to clear your cache, but it's odd that you see it differently when you log out. The map should look like this:

Thanks for the response. I tried toggling grid lines, clearing cache, and I even tried a different browser, but I'm still seeing, presumably, an old version of the map. Again, it only shows the old version of the map when I'm logged in. As soon as I log out and view the game, I see the newer version of the map.

OK, I figured it out. I use the Advance Wars 2 theme by default. If I switch to the Advance Wars 1 theme or the Animated theme, I see the correct map. So this appears to be an issue with the AW2 theme on this specific map.

Hmmm. There had been some issues with the AW2 theme in the past, but Walker had fixed them. Must be a residual bug left over somehow.

It's almost definitely a caching issue, not a problem with the tile set.

It's not a client-side caching issue. I've cleared my cache multiple times and, as I said before, tried it on different browsers with the same result. It should be pretty easily reproduced by starting a new game with this map and toggling the theme.

Yeah, I see the same exact (wrong) map if I switch my theme to AW2, and I don't think I've ever used the AW2 theme or seen that version of the map prior to this point. It displays properly with AW1 and always has. I don't have Chrome at work, but I see the same effect with both Firefox and ... shudders ... IE.

(Note that this is only when I look at the an active game on the map, not when I visit the maps_id page.)

Well okay I take it back, you're right. When I switched to AW2 I see the mountain there now too and I definitely hadn't viewed it like that previously. I see several black tiles now too...

I'll try to see if there's a reason for this, but I can't guarantee it'll be quick.

Okay, I found and fixed the bug with this map. There might be other maps that are affected, but I can't know which they are (without literally checking every map with both settings). So if you see this again in the future, please let me know and I can fix it!
