Re: how do i join
I hate to break it to you, but the Map Committee prefers to accept its members by invitation only. Something tells me that filling the New Maps page with skewed maps and trolling for hungry critics won't get you an invitation anytime soon.
If you're actually serious (a possibility for which I retain little optimism) you should start by taking serious notes on what makes a good competitive map. Once you have good notes, read over them a couple dozen times. Then start cranking out maps and responding well to criticism, improving with each new map until you can consistently make A-Rank maps (or better). If you have that down, then start showing interest in helping others to do the same. If and when the MC members believe you're genuine, capable, and committed enough, they will invite you.
At least, that's what happened in my case. Keep in mind that I was active on the site for over 5 years, always at some point in the above process, before I was invited to join, so don't expect anything to just drop in your lap tomorrow. You have to do it like you mean it. Of course, this all brings us all back to the very important point that I doubt many people think you mean it.
Maybe that should be first on your list, hmm?

Either you're a troll, or you don't actually understand what the map committee is/does. Or, more likely, both of those things are the case.
On the off chance that you're not a troll, I just want to make it completely clear that being on the map committee is a job, and if you want the job, you have to be qualified. The qualifications (short version at least) are high-level knowledge of AWBW and mapmaking, and the ability/willingness to use this knowledge to improve the community (run competitions, organize and categorize maps, spearhead testing of new game types, educate others, etc)

Hey, we can give the guy a shot. He's right that it's not fair for a deserving newcomer to need several years to show that they're qualified. If he's interested in joining, we can at least give him a chance to show if he's ready.
So dudeman333, the most important quality in a Map Committee member is the willingness and ability to help other people make their maps better. Or as you put it, "help guide scrubs". As you have probably noticed, one of the ways we accomplish this is by leaving constructive comments on new maps. So to show that you are a capable Map Committee nominee, I'd like you to go through at least 8 of the 10 most recently made maps currently on the Maps page, and do the following:
- Leave a comment on each one pointing out at least three issues with each map and a potential way to correct it.
- Rate each map and justify your rating in your comment.
When you're done, post here the maps that you commented, and we can judge your effort and see if you're ready.
