2 is the best. Best game engine, best balance, good range of characters. Good music, single player mode is more random when selecting opponents as well.(This is quite important as it makes it less tedious playing the single player game earning the characters.) The extra game modes are better as well. The story mode in brawl sucked.

Only advantage brawl has is zero suit samus! (Killer ass)

n64 version was very good for it's time. It is just the gamecube version is such a massive improvement over it.
